The Brief

What is the Project?

BMW required a technical drawing to illustrate to visitors the layout of the new i8 engine production line. It required producing on a very technical level, also being on-brand and having it’s own creative style. The final piece was printed large format in full colour, mounted and displayed on-site at the visitor point of the production line.

The challenge

Our Process

The artwork for the brief had to adhere to BMW’s brand guidelines, be technical in both execution and style, and be easy to understand by the visitor viewing the display.

The Execution

Our Solution

We photographed the engine production line, outlined a detailed brief of our vision and intent for the project then actioned our deliverables. The final piece was created using a combination of detailed photographic references, 3D software, Photoshop retouching, desktop publishing and clear communication with key BMW engineers.

We required an internal signage display designing for our Midlands based BMW engineering hub. The project had tight constraints; the design had to be highly legible and identifiable by the reader, it had to be creative yet also very technical in execution. The Wider team came on-site, photographed reference points, created wireframe diagrams and executed the final 3D technical creative flawlessly. Our go-to creative agencies did not have the capabilities to meet this brief and after engaging James I would highly recommend him.
